Excellent
One of the things I was pleased about in term 1 was my artwork. In my report I received excellence for my work habits and my behavior. It was a big surprise because I’m not good at art, well that was what I thought before I got my report. I am very proud of myself and so was my mum.
Improve : Maths
Below expectations and goods.
The thing I need to improve on is my maths. That’s because I got below expectations in my academic progress. I was shocked because I thought that I was pretty good at my maths. But I was happy because I got goods on my work habits and my behavior. I felt disappointed and good of myself at the same time.
Overall: My term
Overall, my term went pretty good because I am in a class that I wanted to be in and with a wonderful teacher that I really like. What I like about my class is that my friends are in here and that I know that I can learn a lot of new stuff.

Thinking Skills ...
My brain hurts now because this morning room 22 did a thinking challenge activity. We only had 5 random objects and 1 question. We had to solve that question by using the objects. Our 5 objects were Pin, Fishing rod, Fishing hook, Reel of cotton and Peg. Our question was How could you have the best birthday ever?
We weren’t a success because we were being random. We said that we would go fishing and put the fishing hook on the fishing rod and then make a t-shirt out of the reel of cotton for the fish then hang the fish up with the peg.

I thought this would be a waste of time but it was fun. I cant wait to do it again.

The last week or so...
Its the last week of term 3 and a busy week it has been.
This week it has been busy because of our school production. People walking in and out of the class room. It was kind of annoying but it was worth it. Ms Tito is in charge of her percussion traditional tribal dance group. So the kids that are not in production but in Ms Tito class get split up to different classes like in room 21, 20 and 19.
The class I went to was in room 19. In room 19 they do a lot of reading and all I do is have free time like going on Math whizz. Some times we help Mr Harris with the stuff that got to do with the production.
I can not wait to see our students perform our school production!

Mrs Richards...
For the past few weeks we have had a student teacher in our class to learn how to be a teacher. Her name is Mrs Richards. She came from the university in Waikato.
She made a chart with all our names on it and if we be good we get a tick. When she reads us a story she tells us about her culture and her family. Last week on Friday was her last day here in our class. Unfortunately i was away on Friday.
A lot of people told me that some of the students in our class got to make some dumplings with Mrs Richards for the class. I wish I was there.

OUR CHAMPIONS!!!
“YYAAYY!” I yelled with excitement. Our boys are the champions in New Zealand. Last week our boys went to Tauranga to represent our school in the 7’s rugby competition. They had to challenge 32 teams just to be on the top.
On Monday, the whole school had a short assembly to welcome back our boys from Tauranga. As they were walking in the hall to the stage, there were a lot of cheering and even screaming. When it was time for the boys to say there highlight Junior was my favorite because he was funny. He said that his highlight was when they won the game and he missed the school and the GIRLS!!
I was extremely happy when I heard that the boys won the whole competition and I just could not believe it. So well done boys.

Team 5 fun challenge...
“ YAY !” Room 22 yelled as Ms Tito sling shot a ball in the hoop. On Tuesday the 23rd of August 2011, team 5 was going to have a fun day. All the activities we were doing were with the teachers. The teachers were Ms Tito, Mrs Nua, Mr Harris and Mrs Langitupu. We were all looking forward to see what they have planned for us.
Our first activity was with Ms Tito. We had to use a sling shot to try and shoot a ball in a hula hoop. If we get it in the pink hoop we get 100 points and if we get it into the other coloured hoops like the blue one, we get 50 points. It looked easy and I just could not wait for my turn.
“ Go,” Ms Tito said to us.
Lepa was the first one to have a go. We all thought that he would get it in but sadly we all thought wrong because he missed. It was finally my turn. When I slinged the ball into the air, I just knew I would not get it in. So then Ms Tito stepped in and had a go. She took amount of time thinking of which way to shoot but it was worth it because she actually got it in. In just the last minute someone got us some extra points cause they got a ball in the hula hoop. So out of that whole 15 minute we earned ourselves 100 points.
Our next activity was with Mr Harris. His game was the 3 legged race. What we had to do was to get a partner and tie 1 of our legs together and try to walk all the way to the other side with a spoon and a tennis ball on it. Just after me and my partner watching the other team, we thought it was hard because they kept dropping the ball but the only way for us to find out was to just have a go.
" GO! " Mr Harris yelled at us. "
" Left, right, left, right " we were all saying at the same time.
It was easy to us and it was fun. We would of came a 2nd place but Ilalio and Junior M just beat us.
Our next activity was with Mrs Nua. This game was just about team work. We had to get a sponge full of water and try get it to the other side to a bucket by putting it to the side and under our leg. With the most water in the bucket wins. It looked so fun and we all just could not wait to get a turn.
" GGOO! " Mrs Nua yelled to us.
The people in my group was Beni, Emilee, Julie, Ngametua and I. There were a lot of screaming and a lot of cheating but our group didn’t care. We were trying our hardest but we just did’nt win. But we were pretty close though. We thought that this was one of the best game we did so far. But we just have to keep that in mind because we still had one activity left.
Our last activity was with Mrs Langitupu. What We had to do was try to chuck the ball without stepping and try to touch the other team. It looked easy and cool too and we just could not wait to start
" PLAY! " Yelled Mrs Langitupu.
We all started to run away from the other team because they were trying to get us. Ilalio tried to block me and so was Miracle, so I dropped on the ground and started crawling away from them as fast as I could. It was so funny that I couldn't stand back up. But then Mrs Clark said that we had to switch and now it was our turn to get the other team. Some of them were easy to catch because they wont even try to run but some of them were hard like Miracle. He was so to fast we couldn’t keep up with him. But then it was game over, our team won the challenge.
I had a lot of fun and I know the other classes did too. I hope we could do this again during this year.
THANK YOU TEACHERS!!!

Badminton writing...
"Brrrrr" it was freezing cold as I was sitting on the floor but the burst of excitement to play Badminton kept me warm.
On Thursday morning the 4th of August, Room 22 went to the hall to have a session with a lady called Laureen. She taught us how to play Badminton. Laureen was from the Auckland Badminton Club.
The first activity we did was to control a shuttle. It looks easy but when you try to do it, its hard. We also stopped at some time and Laureen showed us some cool tricks like how to hit the shuttle under your legs. The tip she gave us was not to look down.
The next activity we did was to get in a circle and get 5 shuttles and take 5 steps back from the rubbish bin. The thing we had to try to do was to hit the shuttle inside the bin. Etta was the first one to get it in. She kept saying that she was the best but then I got one in and then she didn’t say anything back.

I can not wait to have our next session. I am all ready to go.

Love you daddy...
In 2009, when Point England was about to go to the picnic, my auntie came and she was crying and hugging my brother and I very hard. We asked her why she was crying but she would not tell us. So she took us to her house.
When we walked inside the house we saw my uncle crying too. We walked up to him and we saw a piece paper that said my dad’s name on it and numbers. We asked my uncle why was he crying and then he said in Tongan “ Your dad has passed away”. Straight away me and my brother started to cry our eyes out. It was hard to believe so we asked if we could go and see him. So we did.
When we reached the hospital, we saw all of our family members there. When we hopped out of the car, they all came to me and my brother and started to hug us and then we started to cry again. We were all crying. When we were all calm we went to the room that he was in.
When we walked in the room we saw some more of our family members. As I walked in the room they all started to cry as they saw me and my brother. My brother told me to go in first. So when I walked in to my dad, I was crying again but this time I was crying louder and longer. I just felt like I could not stop. So then my dads sister ( My best auntie in the world ) came and said, “Come on, its alright, I will buy you something to eat.” It was hard to let go of him but I knew that it was the right thing to do.
When it was time to go home I started to cry again. But then I gave him a big kiss and said “ I love you”. The following days came and it was time to bury my dad. We all got a flower and I got to throw my one first. It was hard to let go but a voice inside me said just let it go, you will be fine, well something like that.
Now when everything finished I was crying my eyes out and it was hard to believe that he is gone. But now I have moved on but I still have him and always in my heart for ever and ever and I will never let him go. I love you daddy and I know you will watch over me. R.I.P DADDY

1st and final last Rugby league session...
Yesterday room 22 at 10.10am, had a rugby league session with a person called Sio Siua Taukeiaho. But he told us to just call him Siua. He plays in a team called 2011 Vodafone Junior Warriors squad.
The first thing we did was to split up into 4 teams. Then we did a warm up called in and out. We had to zig zag through the cones and sprint back. It was kind of funny because some of us just jumped over it but it was kind of fun. Then it was time to get serious. It was time for the challenge. It was hard to believe but we lost the challenge. Then the next thing we did was that each groups gets into a line and make space between each other. Then one person zig zags through us and then sprint back to make a try. It looked like fun and I just could not wait for my turn.
So far our group was losing just by 1 point. It was finally my turn. When I turned around Lepa was my opponent and 2 more people. Just then when were about to go I heard Ms Tito say if anyone beats Lepa gets a slice of my Pavalova. Then a saw Lepa geting ready. I was so scared that I might lose but I just have to believe that I could. When Siua said go, I ran as fast as I could. When I made it to the end then I sprinted as fast as could and then made a try. Everybody said that I beat Lepa. Then I turned around to Ms T and she said I also beat Lepa. I was so happy.
Now it is time for the last game and it was called kick tennis. The rules was to just kick the ball over there shoulders and not below and if the ball bounces on to your square the person that is the closest is out. Then it was time to play. When the other team kicked the ball, one of the ball went straight to me and then I tryed to catch the ball but I missed so then I was out. When more people was out, Lepa was the last one in the square but then he was out.
Then it was time for us to go. We all had fun but this is the first and final time we will have a Rugby league session with Siua.

The Science Roadshow...
Last week on Thursday, the 9th of June, the yr 7's and 8's walked down to Tamaki College. We were all in groups of 6 and I was one of the leaders. In my group was Tule, Beni, Miracle and Lesely. We went to Tamaki College to get a better understanding of our topic by watching the science Roadshow.
When we got there we saw a lot of cool exhibits but before we could even go there, the people at the front had to introduce themselves and they were from Fonterra. When they finished telling us the rules the let us go and explore the exhibits.
We all went to different exhibits but they all had a theme. Those themes were Detection, Heat, Communication, Levers, gears and Inclined Planes, Sound and Quirky Curiosities. In each theme there were a lot of exhibits like in Detection was Radistion, in Heat was colour and fire, in Communication was phones, in levers, gear and Inclined planes was piano and metal detector, in sound was birds singing on the computer, and magic hands and finally on Quirky Curiosities was a skeleton on a chair.
The theme and the exhibits that got me hooked was sound and the exhibit name was the Theremin. There are 2 plates and you hold one hand above each plate and carefully move the other hand on the other plat and move it around. 1 plate for volume and the other plate for pitch. It was fun to play with.
When I finished exploring this exhibits I had questions to fill in so we can tell Ms T what we have learnt. The questions were What was the exhibits name?, What did it look like? What was included in this exhibits?, What did the exhibit the exhibit do? What did you find out from this exhibit? and the last question was What science idea did it demonstrate? That was the hardest question of all because I was just busy wondering around.
Then it was time to go back to school. I had fun there and I now the other kids did too.

Swimming...
For the last 2 weeks the yr 7 and 8 went swimming at the YMCA at G.I (Glen Innes). Well for the first week we went swimming at 2pm and for the last week we went swimming during lunch time at 1.15 pm. We learn to swim because it could save our lives when we are in danger in the water.
I didn’t go swimming because I had a medical reason. Every time I look at them swimming I will always picture me in the pool swimming but that is only in my imaginary world.
Well as I said in the beginning we swim because it is very important. It is important because we are surrounded by water and our swimming lesson can help us save our lives when we are in danger.
I felt kind of sad because I missed all the session of how to swim. This is a good lesson because next time I will definitely go swimming.

Geometry...
This term in room 22 for maths, we are learning about Geometry. If you don’t know what geometry is, I will tell you. Geometry is the study of shape, size and position of a two dimensional shape and three dimensional figure.
What we have been learning so far was how to draw some 2 dimensional shapes in our books, drawing perfect circles with a compass and making our own Tangrams. The activity that I liked doing was drawing perfect circles with a compass. I liked that activity because I like to colour and that was what we did after drawing them.
I did not like Geometry at first but now I love it. I just can’t wait for our next activity. I hope I like our next activity as much as I like this one.

Taonga Time...
This year every Friday the year 7 and 8's have Toanga time. What is Taonga Time you might ask?. Well Taonga means treasure in Maori. We do this so we can learn about different passions of our teachers.
The groups that we have for Taonga Time are Team Building, Art, Sports, Kapa Haka, Science and Music. The group that I am in at the moment is Team Building. We do Team Building with a teacher called Mr Barks. Sometimes we go out on the field and do some activities and how to work as a team.
I feel really happy because I love to work in a team and to be in a group with a wonderful teacher. I can not wait for our next Taonga Time.

Room 22 first Netball session 1...
Last week on Thursday the 5th of May, Room 22 headed out to the hard courts near the staff room. There was a lady named Emma waiting and she was going to teach us some netball skills. She is also a helper down at the netball courts where all our girls go for their netball game.
What did she teach us you ask?. Well, she taught us some amazing stuff like what dynamic stretches are. Here are 3 dynamic stretches we have done. They were butt flicks, high knees and the grape vine. Another thing she taught us was how to pass a ball properly. My partner was Charm. I already knew how to pass a ball because I’ve played netball before. When I threw the ball to Charm it kept going over his head. One more thing she taught us was how to step and receive the ball. It was challenging but we all maneged. When we stepped we had to say ice-cream.
Then it was time to play a game called corner ball. It is similar to netball but to get a goal you had to jump in the cone and catch the ball. It sounds simple but when you play the game it is hard because you have 32 kids playing on the court. We were split in to 2 groups boys and girls. After playing the game I had a sore back. That’s because when I jumped for the ball Charm came and bumped me and then I fell on my back.
After everything we learned, I am starting to like netball again. I can not wait for next Thursday for our 2nd session. I wonder what we are going to learn.

My value DLO Term one...
Last term we had a project about our Point England values. The value I picked was HOPE. For my results I got 12/16. We had to take some photo's and explain how does it feel, look and sounds like to me. It was very challenging for me but I seemed to manage. Well this is what it turned out to be. HOPE you like it.

Term 1 Reflection...
One of the things I was pleased about in term 1 was my artwork. In my report I received excellence for my work habits and my behavior. It was a big surprise because I’m not good at art, well that was what I thought before I got my report. I am very proud of myself and so was my mum.
The thing I need to improve on is my maths. That’s because I got below expectations in my academic progress. I was shocked because I thought that I was pretty good at my maths. But I was happy because I got goods on my work habits and my behavior. I felt disappointed and good of myself at the same time.
Overall, my term went pretty good because I am in a class that I wanted to be in and with a wonderful teacher that I really like. What I like about my class is that my friends are in here and that I know that I can learn a lot of new stuff.
These are my results for my DLO:

My prayer for people in christchurch...
Dear God,
I pray from the bottom of my heart for the homeless people that have been sleeping in their cars and on the streets. I pray for the family of the 5 month old baby that had passed away, that they will be alright. I pray for those people that are still stuck under building and for the people who have lost their loved ones.
I ask you God to please comfort the family of the 5 month baby and that they can be happy again. I ask you God to please be there for them and that they will stop crying. I ask if you could help the people that are trapped and that they are still alive and will get out safely. I ask if you help the homeless people who are sleeping in their cars to find a home to sleep and to please love the people that have lost their loved ones.
I commit my prayer to you god because I believe that you are real and that you are our only hope. I know you can help the people in Christchurch.
I give you my love
AMEN

Room 22 votes for Friday lunch...
In room 22 we have been learning about statistics. Statistic is about finding things out. Ms Tito gave us a problem and that problem was Ms Tito wants to cook room 22 lunch next Friday. She needs to know what she can cook that ALL students will enjoy. It was pretty hard. We had a lot of choice's. But we have finally made up our minds. She is making nachos. We all can not wait to eat Ms Tito's yummy nachos.
